An international workshop on Ecosystem management and Agriculture will be held in Alghero (Italy) on February 2 - 4, 2005.
The aim of the workshop is to present the state of the art on Ecosystem Science and Agriculture. Natural and agricultural ecosystems are under threat from many external forces and much efforts should be put in studying the processes that regulate ecosystem functionality and in pointing out the actions aimed to control and mitigate human impacts on environment with an holistic approach.
During the first day, an introductory session will be focused on theoretical aspects of ecosystem management modelling from several perspectives. In the following days, specific sessions will concern the impacts of climate change and variability, the pests and plants monitoring and modelling, the rational irrigation management in Mediterranean agroecosystems, the effects of meteorology on animal husbandry.
The workshop is an initiative of Assessorato agli Affari Generali and Assessorato all'Agricoltura of Sardinian Regional Government (delibera n° 17/2 del 13/04/04).
